2 month doctor appointment

Max went to see Dr. Topa yesterday for his two month visit. He was very good, and only cried for about 30 seconds when he got three shots. He even took the yucky looking oral medication with no problem. Dr. Topa told us that he had the best head shape he's seen in awhile!

Weight- 11 lbs 6oz           48th percentile
Length- 23 inches            59th percentile
Head circumference- 41  78th percentile!

Max's first Redwings game!

We went to the Redwings game with our resident friends on Tuesday, but Mama didn't let Max come of his bucket due to a (some may say unreasonable) fear of fly balls. I'm pretty sure he enjoyed staring at the back of the seat and the feet of the people behind us, and listening to the crowd cheer though. Attempts to find a little helmet for him were unsuccessful!

Weekend update from baby land!

Anthony had to work all weekend, so my mom came up to help out with the little man for a few days. We went on lots of adventures around Rochester and Max had a lot of "firsts", although he did tend to sleep through most of them (growth spurt perhaps?). He is really turning into a smiley boy, much to the joy of everyone who comes up to us when we're out and tries to tempt a smile out of him. He'll usually give strangers a big toothless grin with a little prompting!

I haven't been too great with taking pictures lately due to a missing camera charger, so of course Max's life has been heavy on the videos instead. Here's a good shot of his smile, about 7 seconds in.

He had his first Shakespeare experience last night at Richard III at Shakespeare in the Park. I could tell he enjoyed it by how he sucked on his hand and slept on Tara! This is one scene that you'll have to imagine in your mind as there is no photo evidence. Off to look for the camera charger!

Max must be going through a growth spurt because he slept almost all of Saturday night and Sunday day, waking up only to eat and coo for a few minutes. Of course, when he sleeps Anthony and I sleep, so we're all feeling pretty rested today (finally!). New moms out there, take heart- it does get easier!

Max loves dub squads

Wednesday was a big day for Max as he got to see his favorite band Giant Panda Guerilla Dub Squad at Highland Park! He slept through most of the concert, though, as he was overcome by the soporific Snug Wrap Supreme (aka the Boba Wrap). Highlights of the night were: a drunk college kid welcoming Max to the world and telling him he's in for a treat, security letting me through with water because I'm breastfeeding (little did they know it was straight vodka...just kidding!), and getting to have my first post partum funnel cake.

Max got to hang with his bff Elijah and Elijah's mommy Renee for his first solo playdate yesterday when mommy went to run an errand. He played in the rainforest the whole time and was so excited when I picked him up that he wouldn't go to sleep until 8pm (almost 4 hours of being awake!), and required 4/5 of the 5 S'es to finally shut down. We love Elijah and Renee! (And Elijah's daddy Brian too).

Why are all the best pictures taken during bathtime? I think the inherent cuteness of the hooded towel makes every picture 1000x better. Anyways, this was another successful bath time (success= not pooping in the towel or peeing on the parent who is bathing the boy!). Anthony has somehow mastered the art of bathing Max better than me, and manages to get him clean quickly and without much screaming. My baths are a bit more... dramatic. You can tell by the calmness in these pictures that this was a daddy given bath.

Big news!

No picture for this event, but its so momentous that it needs documented... Max slept 6 hours straight last night!! and then, after a quick feed, for another 3 hours!!! I feel pretty well rested for the first time in, oh, 5 weeks 4 days!

We had tickets to the annual Med/Peds Redwings game last night, but didn't get to go because of the heat and general baby-related issues (i.e., puke up all my food when we're about the leave the house, requiring a change of clothes for momma and baby, demand to be fed again, then have a diaper blow out). Mom and Dad were defeated, but at least we got some cute pictures!

He looks happy, but is actually quite mad about the hat.

Happy Fourth of July!

We celebrated the holiday a little early since Anthony had to work on the Fourth, and went out to eat at Corner Bakery Cafe. Max got many compliments on his cuteness, and scored his parents a big bag of free muffins, doughnuts, and sweets. Woo hoo!

Max was a good boy throughout eating, and even let us go get ice cream at Pittsford Dairy afterwards with only mild freaking out.

Visit with family

We loved having Aunt Pat and Grammy Sandy visit us over the long weekend! We went for a hike in Corbett's Glen (well, Max sat on the bench while the family hiked in teams), ate at Wegman's, went to the mall so mama could find some clothes that fit, and had a bonfire outside. Busy busy!

Hello world!

Hello world! Max was born at 1:14pm on Thursday, May 31, 2012. He was 7 lbs, .77 oz (lucky 777!), and 21 inches long. He was angry and puffy upon first entry to the world, but quickly deflated and calmed enough to stare at his mommy for awhile.

Since his birth, Max has had many adventures and firsts!
